We really only saw deer and a few other hooved animals.Ībout half way through the park, there is a place to park and use the bathroom and walk up to the fenced in giraffes.Īt the end (or beginning) there is a small area to see birds, monkeys, and other animals along with a restaurant and gift shop. Sometimes cars parked in the middle of the road so other cars could not pass and would sit there for 20 minutes or more so it could be very frustrating. The giraffes can no longer come up to your car-they are in a fenced in area-which was a bummer as well. You can no longer feed the animals out of your hand so that was a HUGE bummer. We took our kids here for the 1st time and I have not been here for about 20 years. I used to go here as a kid and have very fond memories of this place. We didn’t even need a second drive around cause we saw so much the first time. You can also drive thru as many times as you want as long as you don’t leave the park. You do pay an extra 3 bucks a person to feed the birds but that was worth It in my opinion as so many landed on us and my son loved It. The gibbons were so entertaining, as was the bird experience. We also loved walking around after driving thru.

The ostriches were pretty hilarious, one pecked our windows when we rolled them up after he tried to stick entire head in the car! My five year old son got a kick out of this.
We saw every animal listed on the map and many came right to our windows. The weather was cooler, low 60s, and the animals were active. We arrived at about 9:15 and I would definitely recommend being early, as we were one of the first cars to drive thru. Not all animals will eat It, but many do.
We did buy animal food and I would say 1-2 bags is definitely worth It. We decided to go to the safari during our stay in hill country and I’m so glad we did. After a couple of spins through the ranch, stop at Safari Camp Grill for a burger, get dessert at Safari Sweet Shop and purchase some souvenirs at Safari Trading Post. And a lot of animals I've never heard of before, like an Addax, Watusi, Blesbok, Springbok, Emu, Gnu, Bongos and Gemsbok.
